Gucci will be holding the exhibition "No Longer / Not Yet," a collaboration with Katie Grand, editor-in-chief of LOVE magazine, at the Shanghai Minsheng Museum of Contemporary Art from October 16th.
For its 2015-16 Autumn/Winter women's collection, Gucci was inspired by Italian philosopher Giorgio Agamben's question, "What does it mean to be contemporary?" Creative Director Alessandro Michele defines "contemporary" as "a state of flux, where vestiges of the past and hints of the future merge, freeing us to forge new meanings at these crossroads." This collection expresses this idea by celebrating both the vestiges of a world that once existed and the faint signs of a world yet to be born.
This exhibition, "No Longer / Not Yet," explores new concepts of contemporary/anti-temporal. In addition to Alessandro Michele's own works, several exhibition rooms will feature works by renowned artists from around the world, including Chinese multimedia artist Zhao Fei, American sculptor Rachel Feinstein, neo-conceptual artist Jenny Holzer, British photographer Glenn Luchford, and sound designers Steve McKee and John Gosling.
