Isetan Mitsukoshi opens Isetan Salone Men's in Marunouchi, with a new store opening in Nagoya in March 2016

Nov 7, 2015

Isetan Mitsukoshi Holdings will open Isetan Salone Men's, a men's fashion select store, in Marunouchi, Tokyo, in mid-December (1F, Shin Tokyo Building, 3-3-1 Marunouchi, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo).

Isetan Mitsukoshi Holdings is pursuing a strategy of opening small and medium-sized stores that leverages the group's strength in product selection. To date, the company has opened small stores such as the Isetan Haneda Store at Haneda Airport and Isetan Mirror Makeup & Cosmetics, a luxury cosmetics select shop primarily located in station buildings. In April of this year, Isetan Salone, a women's fashion select store with a unique, sophisticated selection that also serves as a salon, opened at the Isetan Shinjuku Main Store.

The store concept for the newly opened Isetan Salone Men's store is "omoai," a Japanese tea ceremony term meaning "to care for each other." Interior designer Hisanobu Tsujimura, based on the theme of "Japanese spirit, Western learning," used traditional Japanese natural materials in a modern way to create a space reminiscent of a traditional Japanese house, embodying the shop's concept of "omoai."

The store has four target audiences, each with its own area. For businessmen based in the Marunouchi area who operate worldwide, there is a zone featuring business-oriented items from brands like BELVEST and Tricker's. For discerning urbanites, there is a zone featuring items for businessmen's off-duty fashion, such as Maison Margiela and MARC JACOBS. For discerning women looking for personalized gifts for men, there is a zone featuring the largest selection of glasses and hats in Marunouchi, as well as a Nicolai Bergmann flower shop. For loyal customers of the Isetan Shinjuku Main Store Men's Building, the store will offer a condensed version of the Men's Building's content.

In addition, a repair workshop will be set up to repair and maintain leather products such as business shoes and bags. Jean-Paul Hevin's first casual cafe in Japan will also be on the premises.

In addition, Isetan Mitsukoshi Holdings will open a medium-sized fashion select store, Isetan House, in the Dai Nagoya Building in March 2016. Based on the concept of "fun," the store targets discerning fashion-conscious people in their 30s and 40s, primarily the baby boomer generation, who are interested in the latest fashion and have an affinity for Tokyo-based fashion. The building will have three floors, from the basement to the second floor, with women's accessories on the basement floor, women's fashion on the first floor, and women's and men's fashion on the second floor.
