"The world's best chocolate cake" arrives in Japan for the first time at a luxury patisserie from Spain opening next spring

Nov 13, 2015

Bubo Barcelona, Spain's leading luxury patisserie, will exhibit for the first time at the chocolate festival "Salon du Chocolat" to be held in Tokyo in 2016. In the spring of the same year, the patisserie will open a new store in Tokyo, marking its second overseas expansion and its first in Japan.

Bubo Barcelona was founded in 2005 by international pastry chef Carles Mampel, who was elected as a member of Relais Desserts, the world's most prestigious confectionery association, in 2008. The patisserie sells chocolates made with carefully selected French ingredients and fresh local Barcelona produce. They also focus on health, using Spanish olive oil instead of butter to match the unique characteristics of their sweets.

Their first store in Japan will feature their signature chocolate cake, "Xabina." This cake won the award for "Best Chocolate Cake" at the world pastry chefs' competition, La Coupe du Monde de la Pâtisserie, and is the most popular cake in its home country.
