Nov 25, 2015

The TOKYO Liberation Zone on the second floor of the Isetan Shinjuku Main Building will host "Upcoming NEW Textile Vol. 1," showcasing fresh Tokyo brands showcasing distinctive textiles and capturing the essence of modern Tokyo. The event will run from December 2nd to 15th.

This event will spotlight Tokyo brands specializing in textiles, showcasing new textile fashion. Titled "Vol. 1," this will be the first in a series that will continue into the second installment. The first installment will feature three brands: Spoken Words Project, SPOLOGUM, and POTTENBURN TOHKII.

Spoken Words Project will be launching its SS16 collection, inspired by a nostalgic future, at the Isetan Shinjuku store first. The series, which uses a variety of techniques with a focus on denim, includes loose-fitting dresses, pullovers, and popular flowy skirts. For AW 15, unique items will be on display, featuring fun textile expressions on winter materials, such as prints on tweed fabric. There will also be shoes with unique designs, such as those featuring hiragana characters in textiles.

Sporogum will be showcasing its popular scarves, featuring eye-catching, colorful and vibrant textiles. They will be suggesting ways to use scarves to enhance individuality in winter styling, which can often be heavy. Poltenberg will also be showcasing foil-printed socks, perfect for Christmas gifts.

Pottenburn Talkie will also be introducing must-have winter accessories, such as coats, scarves, and mittens made from mesh material. Soft color-switching designs and a combination of fluffy materials will create adorable textiles.

Workshops by the three brands will also be held during the event. The Spoken Words Project will hold a "Print Viking" event where participants will use silkscreen printing and patches to create original clutch bags out of felt fabric (1pm to 5pm on the 5th, maximum 30 people, participation fee 4,000 yen), Sporogum will create original tote bags using a variety of prints and colors (2pm to 4pm on the 6th, maximum 5 people, participation fee 4,000 yen), and Pottenburn Talkie will make Christmas ornaments using fabric from their archive (2pm to 4pm on the 12th, maximum 5 people, participation fee 2,000 yen for small size, 3,000 yen for medium size).
