A fair featuring retro yet modern German prints from the Lubok Press is being held at Daikanyama T-Site

Oct 9, 2014

Daikanyama T-Site will be hosting a fair featuring print collections from German publisher Lubok Verlag from October 15th to November 15th.
Lubok Verlag has been gaining attention at art book fairs and bookshops around the world, including Berlin, London, Basel, and New York. This fair will feature print collections from Lubok Verlag, which have rarely been distributed in Japan. The fair will feature all titles in the periodical "Lubok Series," as well as the all-black "House Helga" (by Katrina Imeks) and the colorful picture book "Sag einfach Ja oder Nein!" (Sag einfach Ja oder Nein!) (by Katja Schwallenberg), which will delight both adults and children.
Each carefully crafted collection is comprised entirely of images printed using a technique known as linocut. The artist, Thomas Simon, will print the works on a rare and retro President Schindler Letterpress. This fair allows visitors to fully experience the charm of his print collection, including its bold visuals, the density and transparency of the ink, and the smell and feel of the oil-soaked paper.
