Isetan Natural Beauty Hall of Fame, Be Apo Summary [Australia Edition]

Oct 16, 2014

Located on the second basement floor of Isetan Shinjuku, Beauty Apothecary offers products to support the beauty of both body and mind, based on the concept of "staying beautiful and healthy even 10 years from now." In addition to natural cosmetics, body care, and hair care items, the store offers a wide range of beauty and health content, including food, books, and clinics.

This time, we'll introduce four select cosmetics and skincare brands, focusing on Australia. While Australia is known for its fertile and unproductive soil, the ingredients produced in this harsh climate are robust, highly nutritious, and highly effective. Currently, Australia is a leader in organic farming, and its manufacturing techniques are attracting attention.

The skincare brand Jurlique creates products based on the philosophy that healthy, beautiful skin can be achieved by harmonizing with the rhythms of nature and the cycles of the earth. Approximately 95% of its products are naturally derived, and the company meticulously produces its products at its own Jurlique farm in Adelaide, South Australia, from creating healthy soil to cultivating, hand-picking, and sorting. The brand's number one-selling signature item is the "Cleansing Lotion Replenishing Dry Skin" (200ml/4,700 yen). This milk-type product gently removes makeup while moisturizing. The mist-type lotion, "Rose Mist Balancing" (100ml/4,500 yen), contains approximately 8,000 petals of unselected "antique roses" in each bottle, giving it a rich fragrance. The lineup also includes a wide range of other products, including body care and hair care items, fragrance oils, and kits perfect for trials or travel. Many people buy these products not only for themselves but also as gifts. The uniquely Australian name "KOALA Baby" is a skincare brand born from the owner's desire to create products that can be used by both mothers and children, inspired by her own child's experience with atopic dermatitis. The company uses no chemical ingredients or fragrances, and by using aloe vera juice instead of the water typically used in cosmetics, all products are over 98% organic. The cultivation, harvesting, and processing processes, as well as the facilities, are all certified organic. The "Organic Baby Powder" (1,500 yen), made with cornstarch and white clay, keeps skin dry when dabbed on areas prone to sweating. It's also recommended for diaper rash in newborns and for adults in the summer or after bathing. For dry or rough skin, the "Organic Baby Balm" (3,500 yen) is also recommended. It spreads easily and provides a barrier against irritation, making it recommended by obstetricians. The "Organic Gel Spray" (2,800 yen), a mist gel lotion made with 99.70% organic ingredients, is effective not only in the low humidity of winter but also on sun-exposed skin. Founded in Melbourne in 1987, Aesop is a unisex botanical skincare brand. With eight directly managed stores across Japan, including Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto, and introduced as an amenity at the Park Hyatt Tokyo in 2003, Aesop may already be familiar to many. Of the approximately 300 products available, Beauty Apothecary focuses on body and hair care items. For fall and winter, we especially recommend the classic Resurrection Hand Balm (75ml/¥2,500, 500ml/¥10,000). Its antibacterial and heat-retaining properties make it suitable for use on the entire body. The 75ml tube is convenient for portability. The next most popular product nationwide is the Body Cleanser (200ml/¥2,500, 500ml/¥4,700). In particular, "Body Cleanser 11," suitable for all skin types, is a cleansing gel that cleanses while preventing dryness and is popular for its refreshing geranium scent. Other products include the spicy-scented "Body Cleanser Damascan" formulated with coriander and rose oil.

Finally, we have "Zuii ORGANIC," a Gold Coast-based skincare color cosmetics brand that combines makeup with skincare. Its ingredients include dried and crushed powders of certified organic flowers, such as rose and chamomile. The production factory is certified Organic Food Processor (OFC) by the Australian government. It boasts a wide range of colors, with a total of 81 shades across 8 items. "Flora Eyeshadow" (2,600 yen each) can also be used as a blush.
