First look at Tim Burton's latest film, 'Big Eyes'

Oct 17, 2014

The latest stills from "Big Eyes," the latest film from Tim Burton, the master director behind such hit films as "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" and "Alice in Wonderland," have been released. The photos feature Amy Adams as the real-life art student Margaret Keane and Christoph Waltz as her husband, Walter. Amy was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress for her role in "American Hustle," and Christoph won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for "Django Unchained." The film centers around these two talented actors and revolves around the events surrounding the "Big Eyes" series, which shocked the American pop art world in the 1960s. The "Big Eyes" series is a popular series featuring women and children with distinctively large eyes, and Tim Burton himself is said to be a collector.

So why did such a popular piece lead to such an incident? The shy and taciturn Margaret sold her paintings as Walter's, bringing the couple wealth and fame, but eventually Margaret decided to go public with the truth and fight back.

One of the two photos released this time exudes an aura of happiness, as if she had everything and was at the height of her happiness, but the other has a tense atmosphere that suggests turbulence to come.

So why did she initially give in to her husband's orders? And why did she decide to fight back? Don't miss the theater to see how this major scandal that shook the art world unfolds.
