Roppongi Hills transforms into the world of Tim Burton with Halloween events and parades

Sep 11, 2014

Roppongi Hills will be holding its Halloween event, "Roppongi Hills Halloween 2014," from October 10th to October 31st.
During the event, Roppongi Hills will be hosting "Halloween Decorations in Collaboration with The World of Tim Burton," a project prior to the "World of Tim Burton" exhibition, which opens on November 1st. The original character "Balloon Boy" will be making his Japanese debut, and various stores, particularly those on the second floor of West Walk, will be decorated with Halloween motifs inspired by Burton's worldview.
Also, for the first time, a dress code will be imposed on the 12th annual Halloween Parade. In honor of the 27th Tokyo International Film Festival, which will be held on the same day, participants are invited to dress up as "movie characters." The parade will start at Roppongi Hills Arena, led by a brass band playing Halloween-themed music. The parade will march approximately one kilometer along Roppongi Keyakizaka Street and other areas, taking about 25 minutes. The event is scheduled for October 25th.

A special corner called "Halloween Costume Class with Kids Square" will be back again this year, where parents and children can make Halloween costumes together. Even if you don't have a costume ready, you can still participate in the parade by making a costume based on a movie character. This event is only available on the day of the parade and is aimed at children under 5 and their parents.

Also, for the first time this year, there will be a photo service and stamp rally. The photo service is aimed at children who participate in the Halloween parade, and they can then enter their photos in the photo contest. Winners will receive a gift. Meanwhile, the stamp rally allows children to visit designated stores and receive a stamp, which will earn them candy and original goods. This event is aimed at children under 12 years old and will be held on October 11th, 12th, 13th, 18th, 19th, 25th, and 26th. Other events include the Roppongi Hills observation deck, Tokyo City View, where from October 25th to 31st, visitors dressed in costume will receive half-price admission. The admission fee is 750 yen for adults, 500 yen for university and high school students, and free for children up to junior high school age. During the event, the Tokyo Sky Shot will be decorated with Halloween decorations, offering a spectacular view of Tokyo Tower in the background, allowing visitors to capture Halloween memories in photos. Additionally, Tokyo City View will host two night events in collaboration with DJs and popular artists: "pixiv Matsuri x MADO LOUNGE presents HALLOWEEN PARTY (tentative title)" and "MADO LOUNGE presents HALLOWEEN PARTY 2014." These events are scheduled for October 25th and 31st, respectively. Restaurants and cafes within Tokyo City View will also offer Halloween-themed menus. Italian restaurant Mado Lounge will offer a menu packed with autumn flavors, including Kyoho grape and pear compote and French chestnut cream topped with purple sweet potato and pumpkin ice cream. Sunset Cafe will also offer a menu featuring autumn flavors and a Halloween atmosphere, including "Two Types of Scream and Purple Sweet Potato Crumpets: A Harmony of Autumn Flavors." Menu items commemorating the "The World of Tim Burton" exhibition will also be available. Il Litrobo will offer pasta featuring the night sky and full moon, which are featured in the exhibition's main visuals, while Cold Stone Cafe will offer two-colored ice cream inspired by Jack and Shallie. AS Classics Diner will also offer monster-sized hamburgers and Halloween boxes perfect as souvenirs, while La Boutique de Joël Robuchon will offer Halloween-exclusive sweets consisting of baked goods and caramel in a pumpkin-shaped tin. Pet goods shop "Dogs Care Joker" will also be selling dog cookies shaped like ghosts and pumpkins. Beauty salon "Hollywood Mace Garden Spa" will be offering Halloween-themed art makeup and nail designs in the shapes of cats, little devils, and bats, while nail salon "Nail Station Very" will be offering nails with gentle Halloween stickers.

Halloween-themed experiential workshops will also be held. Shops with a variety of tastes will be participating, including "Happy Cooking," a bread-making class where you can make pumpkin pudding, herb and aromatherapy specialty store "Tree of Life," where you can make soap, and "Ribbon Hakka Kids," which sells baby clothes, where you can make Halloween trays.
