
Actor Tori Matsuzaka was born on October 17, 1988, in Chigasaki, Kanagawa Prefecture. While attending university, he won the grand prize at the "Challenge FB Model 2008 Audition" and began working as an exclusive model for the fashion magazine "FINEBOYS." In 2009, he made his acting debut in the special effects TV series "Samurai Sentai Shinkenger." He continued to appear in numerous dramas and films, and in 2012, he appeared in the NHK morning drama "Umechan Sensei." He won the Hashida Award for his role as the protagonist's husband, Nobuo Yasuoka. That same year, he also appeared in the film "Kyou, Koi Hajimemasu," based on a shojo manga, and won the Japan Academy Award for Newcomer of the Year for his starring role as Kyota Tsubaki. In recognition of these achievements, he received the Ishihara Yujiro Newcomer Award at the Nikkan Sports Film Awards and the Ishihara Yujiro Awards. In 2013, he was nominated for numerous awards, including the Elan d'or Newcomer Award and the Japan Academy Newcomer Actor Award.
In 2014, he played the role of Kuroda Nagamasa in the NHK Taiga drama "Gunshi Kanbei," and attracted attention for appearing in a bold and passionate kissing scene in the annual "SEX Special" feature of the women's magazine "anan," which was released in August. In the movie "Piece of Cake," which will be released in the fall of 2015, he will be taking on his first gay role.
