On October 18th, TARO HORIUCHI presented its 15SS collection in a show format for the first time.
This season's theme was "AERO MODELLATER." The collection was primarily inspired by the "flightless UFO-like flying objects" created by Antwerp, Belgium-based artist Panamarenko. A giant black box was installed in the dimly lit venue, and the blue fluorescent light shining from it drew visitors into TARO HORIUCHI's world, creating a space that seemed to transport them from reality to the future.
The first look featured a model clad in a pure white dress. With stripes of red or black, or a slit that elegantly exposed skin, the dress maintained a minimalist yet feminine aesthetic. Playful use of lines was evident throughout, with tops featuring bold back cutouts and irregular cuts and hemlines. The use of materials is also noteworthy. Flowing materials with a metallic sheen reminiscent of space are elegantly transformed into dresses. Crisp white neoprene is offered in plain yet three-dimensional silhouettes for tops and outerwear. The perforated material used throughout the collection is a material often used in tailored shirts. Designer Taro Horiuchi explained, "I enjoyed combining futuristic elements with the opposite, traditional elements." Midway through the collection, the monochrome gradually shifted to more vibrant hues, including blue, orange, and yellow. Botanical prints were also used in various forms on dresses, skirts, and tops, seemingly shifting the focus from the future to reality. The accessories that accentuate the collection were created in collaboration with various artists, continuing from last season. The compact circular clutch bag is from NEWNEU., the smooth sneakers are from PATRICK, the sunglasses that combine both elegance and casualness are from BLANC., and the minimalist jewelry is from SUN OKUBO.
