Kanebo Cosmetics will release a limited-edition reissue and upgraded version of the "Flash Crush" eyeshadow series, a smash hit in the 1990s, from its makeup brand "KATE" on November 1st. The series is a three-color palette-style eyeshadow set characterized by a dazzling flash-like sparkle. Upon its release in 1999, it quickly became a hit, especially at drugstores, selling 1 million units in just two months. It was sold until August 2005, with a total shipment of 7.74 million units (from August 1999 to January 2005). This hit eyeshadow is now being revived in a limited edition to coincide with the fall/winter revival trend. "KATE Flash Crush RE" (limited edition, one type, 1,400 yen) recreates the popular color from the past and features a mirror-like metal coating. Meanwhile, "KATE Flash Crush NEO" (store-exclusive, four types, 1,400 yen each) has been released with modern colors and textures. It features a futuristic, cool texture that diffuses and reflects light.

Ahead of the release, Sachiko Kurihara, a reader model, tried out the makeup from this series. She once collected every color of Flash Crush, and commented, "It brings back so many memories! It makes my eyes more impactful than usual and is very glamorous. I love monochrome fashion, and this transparency and sparkle seem to match it perfectly."

Her makeup was handled by Kiyoka Hirao of the Kanebo Cosmetics Beauty Research Institute. Regarding the "Kate Flash Crush RE" she used, she advised, "Spread the white all over your eyelids to create a clear look. Apply the black long on the outer corner of your eye, and then apply more white in a "U" shape to the inner corner of your eye to create a smaller, brighter look. Finally, apply the glitter with your finger in a gradation from the center of your eye to the outer corner and inner corner. The white, black, and transparent sparkles, combined with the three-dimensional effect of the glitter, create a cool look for your eyes, creating a finish perfect for the fall and winter trends."
