The Isetan Grand Founding Festival is being held on each floor of the Isetan Shinjuku Main Building and Men's Building from October 29th to November 11th.
During the two-week event, the Main Building will be selling a variety of items created to commemorate the first anniversary of Isetan's iconic tartan being reborn as "Macmillan/Isetan."
On display at The Stage #1 on the first floor of the Main Building will be a variety of fashion items featuring Moomin characters from ANNA SUI, including a tote bag (22,000 yen), long wallet (18,000 yen), and mini wallet (10,000 yen). Other popular brands, such as mina perhonen and Johnstons, are also celebrating the Grand Founding Festival with commemorative items incorporating Macmillan/Isetan designs. The second floor of the store will be selling collaboration items with various characters, including Hello Kitty and the Cockettes. Items include a "Hello Kitty x Macmillan/Isetan" tote bag (3,500 yen), a "Shasha x Macmillan/Isetan" apron (12,000 yen), and mittens (2,800 yen), as well as unique items such as a cat cushion (11,000 yen) by "atelier kiji," which features a bold Macmillan/Isetan pattern on the entire back. Of course, popular fashion brands will also be showcasing their own uniquely crafted items. MIHARAYASUHIRO's trench coat (¥85,000) features the Macmillan/Isetan pattern on the cuffs, while MACKINTOSH PHILOSOPHY's duffle coat (¥63,000) features the Macmillan/Isetan pattern on the lining. Other brands, such as ANREALAGE and FACETASM, also created original items for the grand opening celebration, adding a touch of color to the venue. On the first day of the event, The Stage on the first floor was packed as soon as the store opened. The new tartan pattern, "Black Watch/Isetan Men's," also debuted in the Men's Building on the same day. In conjunction with the launch, numerous limited-edition items featuring the same pattern were available in the promotional space on the first floor. Fans of Isetan and each brand thronged the store, creating a commotion at times. If you have an item in mind, it might be best to come early.
