Spotify, the audio streaming service used by over 320 million users worldwide, is launching the Creator Support Program to support the creative activities of the next generation of audio content creators and further stimulate the Japanese audio market through three pillars: Discovery, Community, and Incubation. The Creator Support Program aims to discover talented audio content creators and provide them with data, knowledge, and promotional opportunities to help them establish a solid career foundation. In the Discovery pillar, Spotify will quickly discover individual creators already producing and distributing high-quality audio content through sponsorship and cooperation with awards and events, helping them reach more listeners. "Sharing" supports creators' daily creative activities by sharing the latest information and know-how through dedicated websites, social media, and regular events and webinars. It also provides opportunities for collaboration. Furthermore, "Nurturing" fosters the talents of those with little production experience by providing them with the tools and motivation to start distributing audio content.
As the first step in the "Creator Support Program," we will be releasing spinoffs and new series of three popular podcasts produced and managed by individual creators, including "Koten Radio: Learning History in an Fun Way," "Hapa English Conversation Podcast," and "Graveyard Radio," which were last year's winners of the "Japan Podcast Awards," Japan's first podcast awards ceremony. Starting January 20th, these new programs will be available exclusively on Spotify. Furthermore, this year, in partnership with the "Japan Podcast Awards," we will launch the new "Spotify NEXT Creator Award" to quickly highlight the next generation of talented creators and support them in building a listener base.
Spotify launched a new global strategy called "Audio First" in February 2019, evolving into a comprehensive audio platform where users can discover and enjoy not only music but also their favorite podcasts through personalized listening experiences and recommendations. Spotify has driven the growth of the global podcast market by focusing on providing services to creators and users in each regional market. As an example, in 2020, Spotify launched "Sound Up," a support program that discovers, educates, and mentors creators producing podcasts for the first time in genres that are still under the spotlight around the world.
Spotify will continue to focus on supporting creators through the "Creator Support Program" and aim to further expand the domestic podcast market.

Program Title: "Koten Radio Spotify Original"

Winner of both the 2019 Japan Podcast Awards Grand Prize and the Spotify Award, the popular history curation program "Koten Radio" has launched a Spotify spin-off show. This history podcast is brought to you by two history geeks who love history and know too much about it (COTEN Co., Ltd. CEO Ryunosuke Fukai and Yang Ruizhi, commonly known as "Yang Yang"), and a history nerd (BOOK Co., Ltd. CEO Masanori Higuchi). This spin-off program will talk about stories of great people that were not covered in the main program, as well as historical axes that were not covered in the main program, in a lighter tone. It is a perfect program for those who want to know more about history, as well as an introduction to Koten Radio. Through the lens of history, it will provide a refreshing interpretation of "what is a human being," "the worries we modern people face," and "the trends of the world." It is a new and innovative history curation program that will make you laugh and cry! Please enjoy.
