The 8th Aoyama Bread Festival - Wonder of Fermentation, a bread festival bringing together specialty bakeries from across Japan, will be held on March 19th and 20th at the United Nations University in Aoyama, Tokyo. This year's festival, which began in the fall of 2013, will focus on three types of starters: wheat, yeast starters, and delicious starters mixed into bread. While they may look similar, they have different aromas and flavors, and even the same starter is expressed in different ways. Through these diverse breads, visitors can fully enjoy the wonders of fermentation, which begins with starters. Bakers will also be showcasing natural yeast (self-cultured starters), which are cultivated by bakers who have created their own starters through the entire process, from starter to starter. Visitors can also enjoy tasting breads made with different yeasts. Approximately 50 bakeries from around the country and stores offering bread accompaniments will be participating in the festival. The lineup includes Bocchi SEGAWA PEANUT, Hamburger Cafe UNICO, Kawagoe Bakery Rakuraku, Oheso Cafe & Bakery, Baba FLAT, and more. Special bread sets will also be on sale, allowing you to enjoy bread that matches the theme.
