Magnolia Bakery has released "The Japan Cupcake," a product to support the recovery efforts in the areas affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake.
The Japan Cupcake (480 yen), which was also sold last year, is a charity cupcake made with a light chocolate dough, iced with vanilla buttercream, and topped with fresh raspberries.
100 yen per cupcake will be donated to Rikuzentakata City Hall in Iwate Prefecture as a reconstruction aid fund. Last year's donation was used to purchase a tiered stage at an elementary school in Rikuzentakata that was washed away by the tsunami. The product will be on sale until March 31st and can be purchased at the Magnolia Bakery Omotesando store. The products will also be available at Shokuyukan on B1 of Kokubunji Marui from March 11th to 15th, at Tobu Department Store Ikebukuro on B1F from March 17th to 30th, and at Seasonal Sweets on B2F of Odakyu Department Store Shinjuku from March 23rd to 29th.
