From March 16th to 21st, Isetan Shinjuku will host the "Hokkaido Exhibition" in the event hall on the 6th floor of the main building, showcasing seasonal Hokkaido cuisine. The eat-in area offers a menu focused on local ingredients, as well as a collaboration with the gourmet information website "Gurunavi." A highlight of this event is the presence of restaurants dedicated to "Hokkaido ingredients." Nanabee (Sapporo City) is a highly acclaimed ramen restaurant featured in the Michelin Guide Hokkaido and selected for the 2016 Japan Ramen Awards. Their "Hokkaido Mochi Pork Chuka Soba" (limited to 50 per day, ¥834) features a soup made with Asahikawa soy sauce, topped with roasted pork from Hokkaido, and noodles made with locally-sourced wheat. The soup is prepared from scratch the day before and for the next day, without using concentrated soup stock. Sushi Restaurant Kihara (Hakodate City) will be offering the "Chef's Five-Piece Platter" (limited to 50 pieces per day, ¥3,000). These five pieces include fatty tuna, seared kingfish, hairy crab dressed in vinegared crab jelly and crab miso, peony shrimp, and Hokkaido abalone. This luxurious dish is sure to impress, thanks to the chef's expertise in seasonal seafood, which only a Hakodate-born chef can offer, and his knife skills that bring out the full flavor of each ingredient. Also noteworthy is the "Hokkaido Potato Frits (with dip)" (¥600) from Daichi no Frit (Sapporo City). This "semi-order French fry specialty shop" offers Hokkaido potatoes from various regions and varieties, cuts, and your choice of salt and dip. According to a buyer at Isetan Mitsukoshi, this shop is also popular among local high school girls. The exhibition will also feature a menu created in collaboration with the gourmet information website Gurunavi, available in the eat-in corner. Le Jardain Potager TERANISHI, a renowned vegetable French/Italian restaurant based in Sapporo, is highly recommended by Gurunavi staff. The venue-exclusive menu offered by the restaurant, "Northern Land Plate of 6 Types" (4,600 yen), is presented as a course meal featuring carefully selected ingredients from producers trusted by the owner, Chef Teranishi. There are six courses to choose from, including "Oven-baked Chiriuchi Oysters with Genovese," "Five Kinds of Winter Potatoes Wrapped in Pie," "Tokachi Poirot and King Crab Gratin," "Ebetsu Ezo Tajima Beef Ebetsu Haruyutaka Tartine," "Abira Town Whey Pork and Camembert Cheese Rillette," and "Salt-Cracked Roasted Ebetsu Snow Cabbage with Tokachi Kyodo Gakusha Raclette Cheese and Bean Sauce." There will also be a stamp rally at the venue where you can win a "Yubari Melon Caramel," and the official Isetan Shinjuku store website, which introduces the exhibition, has published a food report on the exhibition by bloggers Foreign Debu Hasshi and Haa-chu as "bakushoku supporters."
