Yokohama Fruhlings Fest 2016, a re-creation of the German spring festival, will be held from April 29th to May 8th at the Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse Event Square and Red Brick Park. Fruhlingsfest, which means "spring festival" in German, is an event where Germans celebrate the arrival of spring. It combines a beer festival with a traveling amusement park, and is a beloved tradition throughout Germany, where people enjoy a spring day with family and friends. This year marks the fourth time the event has been held at the Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse, and will feature a wide variety of drinks and food from North Germany, primarily Hamburg. This year's event will feature Hamburg craft breweries Buddleship and Hopperbräu, as well as the Japanese debut of draft beer from Metzeler Brewery, which has been in business for over 120 years. Beer cocktails and soft drinks made with "coated juice," a unique, bursting-in-the-mouth texture, will also be available.

For food, a hut (wooden stall) imported from Germany will serve dishes such as the traditional German seafood dish "Rotballsch," "Bremarkknips," a traditional hamburger steak dish unique to North Germany with a crispy surface, and "Krapfen," a traditional fried bread-like pastry. Other staples include "Spargel (white asparagus)," a vegetable said to herald the arrival of spring in Germany, as well as local specialty sausages and fresh juice served in a fruit container.

In addition, the attraction zone facing the sea will feature the first appearance of a precious antique merry-go-round created by Peter Petz, the world's only remaining carousel craftsman.
