On March 5th, Jonny Johansson's Acne Studios held its Autumn/Winter 2016-17 collection show in Paris, in the former residence of Count Potocki, a historic 19th-century building now used as the Chamber of Commerce.
Continuing from the previous season, the collection theme was "Music." However, this season the focus was particularly on the 70s garage rock band The Cramps, particularly their members Lux Interior and Poison Ivy. Their provocative costumes were used as inspiration, but rather than simply quoting them, the show was refined and presented in a variety of ways, characteristic of Acne Studios.
Second-skin tops were seen in many looks. Available in two styles, stripes and animal motif prints, Poison Ivy's costumes were reconstructed in the style of Acne Studios by layering vinyl or sequin-embroidered bodices over them, or pairing them with baggy mohair pants or coordinated with a bolero with snaps like a scarf.
A men's fabric drop-shoulder coat was adorned with metal accessories that marked the waist and one side of the chest, while a vinyl coat was coordinated with a belt that could never be threaded through. The artistic, humorous playfulness that is characteristic of Acne also left a strong impression.
