Fashion designer Yoshikazu Yamagata's written by and writtenafterwards will present their Fall/Winter 2016 collection at Omotesando Hills on March 16th during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Tokyo. The theme for Yoshikazu Yamagata's Fall/Winter 2016 collection is "gege," meaning "below the bottom" or "surprise" in the dialect of his hometown, Tottori Prefecture. The collection is themed around "yokai" (ghosts). Inspired by Anna Wintour's first cover as editor-in-chief of Vogue in the late 1980s, the collection blends elements of couture, street style, and yokai. The collection show, which will be held at Omotesando Hills from 7:00 PM on the 16th, will be open to the public, allowing anyone to freely view the collection. From March 18th to 30th, Yamagata Yoshikazu will be in charge of the opening planning for Gallery ROCKET, which is relocating to the Dojunkan building in Omotesando Hills, and will be creating an installation related to this collection. In addition, limited-edition collaboration items between Yamagata and Fujiwara Hiroshi will be sold in conjunction with this planning.
FASHION HEADLINE accompanied Yamagata on visits to places where he was working on the collection, such as "Inshu Washi," a traditional craft of Tottori Prefecture, and "Mortar Magic," a company that makes toys using mortar made from sand from the Tottori Sand Dunes. A report from the visit will be published after the collection.
