This week, I'll be sharing my experience at the Acne Studios women's pre-fall collection exhibition.
This season's inspiration comes from a self-portrait by Johan August Strindberg, the renowned Swedish artist. The designs reflect his image as a strong man, a man who was known for being an eccentric and controversial novelist, playwright, and painter.
Both tops and bottoms are made from crisp cotton and wool, with voluminous silhouettes as the main focus. The mouton coat has a unique, oversized silhouette with disproportionately large sleeves and a hem. The fluffy fur coat is made by Steiff, the German company famous for its teddy bears. It's rare for the company to provide fabric to a fashion brand, and until now, Chanel has been the only one to do so.
Also, white lace blouses, bleached denim transfer print fabric, softly blurred floral graphics, and ice blue and pale lavender colors create a romantic Swedish atmosphere. When you see the models wearing them, you can see that the layering creates an interesting contrast in the overall silhouette and color.
Acne's shoes are a focus every season, and this season they're introducing their first pumps. There are three types of heels. Maria, who handled the press, wore leather wide-leg pants with floral sneakers. The soles are Vibram, and she said, "The contrast between the chunkiness and the volume of the pants is great."
The Fall/Winter 2013-14 collection, which will be unveiled in March, will move from London to Paris for a major event at the Fashion Museum.
