Galette des Rois is a traditional French baked confectionery used to celebrate Epiphany* in the New Year. There are many different types depending on the region of France, and they appear on the shelves of French pastry shops and bakeries once the New Year begins.


"Galette" means "round pastry" and "roi" means "king," so "Galette des Rois" refers to "king's pastry." Made with plenty of soft frangipane (almond cream) and flaky pâté feuillete (pie crust), this pastry is made with plenty of cultured butter from France, allowing you to enjoy the stunning contrast in texture.

※What is Epiphany?
"Epiphany," also known as "Epiphany," falls on January 6th on the Christian calendar. It is said to be the day when the Three Wise Men visited the East to celebrate the "manifestation" of the baby Jesus, and in France it is customary to celebrate this day by cutting a Galette des Rois filled with a fève. This tradition, which dates back to the 14th century, has lost its religious significance in recent years and has become an event for gathering with family and friends to celebrate the start of the new year.
