Toray Diplomode Co., Ltd. (headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo) has signed an exclusive import and sales agreement with designer Vanessa Bruno and the French company Solune. S.A.S. for Japan. The company began selling its first line, "vanessabruno," and its second line, "athe vanessabruno," at major retailers nationwide starting with the Spring/Summer 2013 season.
The company positions the brand as the core of its import business, aiming to achieve sales of 600 million yen in the first year and 1.5 billion yen three years later. For the Fall/Winter 2013 season, the company is positioning the first line as "affordable luxury" and enhancing its brand image. To achieve this, the company is working with an external PR firm to thoroughly strengthen its PR activities, opening a flagship store in Tokyo during fiscal 2013 and promoting in-store expansion centered on the first line in department stores to rebuild the brand. Sales will also be actively undertaken at select shops and online. In Japan, the brand is best known for its bags, but going forward, the company will be stepping up its push into clothing.
Price ranges for Spring/Summer 2013 for the first line are dresses and jackets 70,000-80,000 yen, blouses, skirts and pants 40,000-50,000 yen, knitwear in the 30,000-40,000 yen range, and bags 10,000-80,000 yen. For the second line, dresses are 50,000-60,000 yen, jackets 40,000-50,000 yen, blouses 20,000-30,000 yen, skirts 30,000-40,000 yen, pants 20,000-30,000 yen, knitwear 20,000-40,000 yen, and bags 20,000-50,000 yen.
