The license agreement for Anne Klein New York, a brand operated by Takihyo Co., Ltd. (headquarters: Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture), has expired, and the brand will withdraw from Japan on February 26th.
The brand was founded by designer Anne Klein in 1968. Takihyo took an equity stake in Anne Klein in 1973, and after the founding designer Klein passed away in 1974, Takihyo acquired the company through M&A the following year and began selling in Japan in 1975. In 1999, Takihyo sold the brand to the US-based Jones Apparel Group (now the Jones Group), but in 2002, it obtained the Anne Klein license for the Japanese market.
In addition, Takihyo will debut a new brand, Berardi, on February 27th. The brand is the second line of Antonio Berardi, whose collections are presented at London Fashion Week.
