Itochu Corporation launches new "Bear USA" brand, including replica of "mythical down jacket"

ITOCHU Corporation has signed a sublicensing agreement with Fineplus for the American brand "Bear USA," for which it holds the master license rights in Japan.

Product manufacturing will be handled by Fineplus, while ITOCHU Corporation plans to offer a wide range of casual wear, including the brand's core down jacket. Specifically, the brand will begin offering men's and children's casual wear for the winter 2012 season, with subsequent expansion to include women's wear, bags, shoes, watches, and more.

As part of the new development of the "Bear USA" brand, a replica model of the "legendary down jacket" released in 1995 will also be released. This model features the "limited edition logo" used only in 1995, and faithfully reproduces the original design, including the specifications and accessories. Improvements have also been made to the outer material, print quality, and fit, resulting in a level of perfection that exceeds that of regular replica models.

Using its comprehensive marketing capabilities as a core, Itochu aims to expand its customer base to include younger people in their 20s and 30s, in addition to the over-40s who have been fans of the brand since its launch. Its sales target for the next three years is 3 billion yen. In the medium to long term, it is also considering expanding into Asian markets by utilizing its strong local networks.
