Toranomon Hills, a skyscraper tower complex set to become a new landmark in Tokyo, held a preview on the 9th and unveiled its entire complex ahead of its June 11th opening. The facility is located in the "Asia Headquarters Special Zone," a Tokyo Metropolitan Government initiative to attract foreign companies.
As announced at a press conference by Mori Building President Shingo Tsuji, floors 1 through 4 will be commercial zones, featuring 24 restaurants and service establishments, including Toranomon Coffee, FamilyMart, and Sula NYC Tokyo, offering convenient access for office workers and local residents. Floors 47 through 52 (the top floor) will house the Andaz Tokyo, a luxury lifestyle hotel marking its first foray into Japan. Residents on the residential floors will also have access to hotel services, a first for the hotel.
The building's shape follows the gentle curve of the Route 2 Loop Line, which runs underground, creating a symbolic exterior. Above ground level, there will be open spaces, including a lawn plaza where visitors can enjoy nature throughout the year, and children's events are planned for the future. In keeping with the desire to serve as a cultural hub, art curated by the Mori Art Museum is displayed throughout the complex. Each piece features works by Asian artists, each inspired by the ideal future of Toranomon Hills and Tokyo.
"Toranomon Hills is intended to be a catalyst for change in the Toranomon, Shimbashi, and Kasumigaseki areas. It is not positioned as a commercial facility like Omotesando Hills or Roppongi Hills. Because it is not a place designed to attract customers, it does not have retail tenants, and it does not have a set target market, visitor numbers, or sales," said a Mori Building spokesperson. The complex will serve as an office hub, attracting a diverse range of people from Japan and abroad. The office space on floors 2 through 26 is split equally between Japanese and foreign companies, with many foreign residents in the residential areas.
The Toranomon Hills mascot, "Toranomon," which has been a hot topic even before the complex opened, was created to match the familiarity associated with the popular character "Doraemon" and its futuristic image. Although details have not yet been decided, he said that he is considering producing merchandise etc. You can meet the life-size Toranomon in the atrium on the second floor.
