Jeff Mills, who continues to explore the possibilities of musical expression through techno and electronic music and is known for his collaborations with modern art and for providing the soundtrack for Fritz Lang's "Metropolis," will release a DVD/CD set (¥3,900) of "Man From Tomorrow," a video work he created in collaboration with French filmmaker Jacqueline Caux. The set will be released on December 17th, with a limited run of 500 copies in Japan. Jacqueline Caux has a deep knowledge of contemporary minimal music, from John Cage to Richie Hawtin, and is also known for her documentary work on Detroit's legendary radio DJ, Electrifying Mojo, titled "The Colours of the Prism, the Mechanics of Time." This release features a diverse range of elements, including Jess Mills' vision of techno, the music-making process, Jeff's vision of the future, and the sense of loneliness that arises when playing in front of an audience. It also offers a unique opportunity to experience the true essence of techno music in a style distinct from a DJ event. Following its world premiere at the Louvre Audiotorium in Paris in February of this year, the film has since been shown at New York's Studio Museum of Harlem, Berlin's Hackesche HofeKino, London's ICA, Kyoto, and Tokyo. The release also includes a CD featuring soundtracks by Jess Mills himself (12 of the 16 tracks are unreleased), and a Japan-exclusive autographed poster by Jeff Mills. This luxurious release is a must-see for Jeff Mills fans, music lovers, and art lovers alike.
