The cutting-edge technology art exhibition "MEDIA AMBITION TOKYO 2014" will be held from February 7th until March 30th. This second edition will be expanded in scale, taking place at two locations: the 52nd floor observation deck of Roppongi Hills and Intersect by Lexus in Aoyama, Tokyo. 18 works by 16 artists will be on display.
The event's concept is "Let's change Tokyo with art before it's left behind," and its goal is to spread new cultural trends that transcend genres, such as media art, video, and music, from Tokyo to the world. The previous four-day event in February last year attracted approximately 14,000 visitors.
On the 52nd floor of Roppongi Hills, a variety of technology art will be exhibited under the title "MEDIA AMBITION TOKYO 2014: A festival where Tokyo and the world, the past and the future, technology and art intersect." Works on display include IMG SRC's "MAT Flipdots Wall," Takagi Masakatsu's "Utagaki," and Rhizomatiks' "Physical Presence." Also, a two-day live event will be held at Tokyo City View on the same floor. On February 7th, DJs will include TOWA TEI and Mademoiselle Yulia, and VJ Enlightment. On the 8th, "Digitally Show," produced by Shibuya Keiichiro, will be held. Shibuya and evala's unit ATAK Dance Hall will perform, with Ametsub, and VJs will include YKBX, Rhizomatiks, and KEZZARDRIX. Intersect by Lexus will exhibit installations by two artists. In February, artist Kosei Komatsu, who continues to create spatial expression using devices that manipulate natural phenomena, will present a new work. In March, light art pioneer Hiroyuki Moriwaki will unveil a new spatial installation using light. Also, as a special exhibit at the Roppongi venue, WOW's video installation work "Ophelia has a Dream" will be on display. This is a collaborative work with MIHARAYASUHIRO, which was exhibited at the Paris Collection event held at the Louvre in 2011, and is based on Millet's famous painting "Ophelia."
