Moncler Grenoble releases limited edition down jacket dedicated to the great mountaineer of the 1960s

Nov 11, 2014

A limited-edition collection from MONCLER GRENOBLE will be released. It will be available exclusively at Moncler Aoyama on November 12th.

This collection was designed as an homage to Lionel Terray, a French mountaineer with deep ties to Moncler's history. It features the "double down bag" design that was mainstream for down jackets until the 1960s, and is filled with plenty of down to withstand climbs at altitudes of 8,000 meters.

The matte texture and chic coloring are designed to suit the modern fashion scene. The left sleeve features a black rubber logo, while the right sleeve features the same black rubber logo as when the brand was founded. The tag on the back is a woven name tag featuring a jacquard photo of Terray in his younger days.

There will be a total of four styles, centered around KINLEY (297,000 yen), JOSTED (297,000 yen), and LAMBERT (219,000 yen).

Terray served as a technical advisor to Moncler in the 1950s and contributed to the brand's development of high-quality, functional downwear. He later became the first Frenchman to successfully climb the Himalayas.
