Moncler has opened a pop-up shop featuring items from its 2014-2015 Fall/Winter collection, "MONCLER Y," on Stage 3 on the third floor of the Isetan Shinjuku Main Building. The shop will run until October 28th. Yasuhiro Mihara is responsible for the brand's design. Moncler Japan has previously collaborated with established domestic brands such as sacai and White Mountaineering to release capsule collections. The unisex down jacket features lavish Nishijin fabric woven with heavy gold thread, creating a glamorous look with the long, shaggy fur on the hood. The shop also offers feminine pieces, such as a tent-shaped down jacket with a flared back. The textiles feature Japanese patterns inspired by Nishijin fabrics and antique kimonos, as well as designs evocative of Mihara's unique worldview, evoking the dragons and tigers favored by tattoo artists. By adding Japanese elements that Mihara continues to promote to Moncler's distinctive silhouettes, the collection fuses the charms of each.
Each item is named after a Japanese plant, such as "Gentian," "Mokuren," or "Oak," embodying the collection's inspiration from Japanese culture. The items available in advance at the store are the "KIKU" down jacket (175,000 yen) and the "MOMIJI" down vest (143,000 yen), made with a green-based feather pattern textile.
Isetan Mitsukoshi is running a campaign called "JAPAN SENSES" until October 28th to promote the good things and traditions of Japan, and decided to hold the brand's pop-up at this time.
