Alexander Wang has opened a pop-up store featuring his 2014 Pre-Fall collection at The Stage #3 on the third floor of the main building of Isetan Shinjuku. At the same time, the bag collection will also be available in the handbag corner on the first floor of the store. Both will be on display until June 24th.
The 2014 Pre-Fall collection on display on the third floor of the store is inspired by downtown New York. Using experimental prints and fabrics, the collection pursues imperfect beauty. Masculine elements are also evident, with tailored jackets and center-pleated pants.
Highlights include a coat (253,000 yen) made from a monochrome fabric with perforated details reminiscent of moth holes, and the "GYM SACK" (93,000 yen) leather backpack, inspired by garbage bags and used in many of the looks. Also making its debut this season is the "DUMBO BACKPACK" (160,000 yen), a new addition to the Rocco series featuring studs on the bottom. It comes in vivid yellow and navy. The yellow and blue colors are applied to embossed leather. Other items include a knit sweater with a high neck that looks like a bandana (long-sleeved 80,000 yen, sleeveless 74,000 yen), and a top and skirt set (84,000 yen) made of thick, stretchy striped fabric (66,000 yen). The store's first-floor handbag promotion also includes new burgundy and gray versions of the "PRISMA BACKPACK" (141,000 yen), an elegant silhouette that has become one of the brand's most popular items since its introduction last season. The classic black version of this popular bag, which had been in short supply, is now back in stock. The three-way clutch bag, made from the same material as the aforementioned Dumbo backpack, comes in two vivid colors, blue and yellow, which complement the brand's monochrome clothing. A brand representative commented, "We recommend pairing it with Alexander Wang clothing that has a sophisticated silhouette, such as a little black dress."
