Model Marie was born on June 20, 1987, in Tokyo.
Her father was the former president of an import agency for automotive oil and known as the "oil tycoon," and her mother ran a salon in Japan. Encouraged by her older sister, who was also a model, she began working as a child model in the fifth grade.
In 2005, she appeared on the TV show "Sekai Baribari Value" as a celebrity idol, or "celedol." This marked her full-fledged start as a talent. Around the same time, she also became an exclusive model for the fashion magazine "ViVi." She has appeared in shows such as Tokyo Girls Collection, Kobe Collection, Girls Award, and Fukuoka Asia Collection. In 2006, she made her acting debut in the NHK TV drama "Machiben." In 2010, she designed URBAN RESEARCH ROSSO's original line, "DiDi Via ROSSO," and also collaborated with surf brands "Realm" and "Mables" to release T-shirts, demonstrating her success as a designer. In 2011, she was appointed as an image model for the women's street fashion brand "X-girl." In September 2011, she studied abroad at Parsons School of Design in New York, known as one of the world's three major fashion schools. While majoring in fashion, she reported on the state of local collections and her personal life in "TOKYOViVi," a spin-off magazine of "ViVi" that was launched around the same time. She returned to Japan in May 2012 after six months of study abroad. She has been appointed as a curator for the new brand "sophila," which was launched in February of this year.
