ADEAM opened a pop-up shop on November 26th at The Stage #3 on the third floor of the Isetan Shinjuku Main Building. The shop showcases exclusive coats and the latest SS15 collection. The shop will be open until December 2nd. The inspiration for the AW14-15 collection is traditional Japanese beauty. Items inspired by Yasunari Kawabata's novel "Snow Country" are featured. A dress with a neckline reminiscent of a geisha's kimono collar and a maxi skirt inspired by the silhouette of a hakama (traditional Japanese formal attire), were designed with the wardrobe of the novel's heroine, Komako, as if she had traveled back in time to the present day. An Isetan-exclusive coat (priced at ¥580,000) was also on display at the venue. Available in white and black, the top half of the coat is made of lamb and the bottom half is made of mink. It's a simple yet edgy piece with a striking presence. Fashion items inspired by the novel's protagonist, Shimamura, are also featured. The novel is set in the 1930s, a time when British menswear was popular, especially in Tokyo. Based on the hypothesis that Shimamura, a novelist, might have been interested in British style, the collection incorporates elements of the latest fashions of the time, such as tailored suits and chester coats. Also, some items from the Spring/Summer 2015 Resort Collection are available for presale. The Spring/Summer 2015 theme is "wabi-sabi." The front of a summer knit sweater (¥82,000) features a visual of a view through a shoji screen from a tea room. Regarding the event, brand designer Hanako Maeda commented, "When I was a student, I enjoyed reading Yasunari Kawabata and Junichiro Tanizaki. This time, I wanted to express the worldview of 'Snow Country,' so I developed the fabric in collaboration with Hurel of France, inspired by Taisho-era kimonos. Since many of the customers at Isetan Shinjuku are discerning, I want more people to see my brand." To create the impression of a snowy country, the entire floor of the venue is painted white, and the brand logo at the shop entrance is also decorated with falling snow.
