Tokyu Plaza Omotesando Harajuku will be hosting a Christmas illumination display on its rooftop terrace, "Omohara Forest," from November 6th to December 25th.
The illuminations are based on the theme of "Wishes ~Fountain of Wishes~." In addition to the installation of an object tree, the fountain in the center of the terrace will be lit up in a fantastical blue using projectors and fiber optics. Snow will fall from the sky, creating the illusion of frozen water. Throwing in a "Wish Coin" available throughout the building will further change the fountain's illuminations. The display is being produced by Ryotaro Matsumura, creator of Tokyo Station's 3D projection mapping and the title sequence for the NHK Taiga drama "Gunshi Kanbei."
The snowfall event will take place every Friday through Sunday in December, as well as from December 19th to 25th. During these seven days, the rooftop will be open until 11:00 PM.
The traditional illuminations will also be on at Omotesando's Keyaki Street, which can be seen from Omohara Forest. "Perrier presents Omotesando Illuminations 2014" will be on from December 1st to the 25th. This year, the trees lining the street from the entrance to Meiji Shrine to Aoyama Street will be lit up. The Omotesando area also has many other attractions, such as the 8m giant tree at Omotesando Hills, the classic "wedding" illuminations at Anniversaire Omotesando, and the illuminations at Aoyama St. Grace Cathedral. This year's holiday season is likely to be bustling with people again.
