
ITOCHU Corporation has acquired exclusive import and sales rights in Japan for women's clothing and bags from the American fashion brands DEREK LAM and DEREK LAM 10 CROSBY. Sales will begin in the fall/winter 2015 season through Toray Diplomode.
Going forward, through collaboration with Toray Diplomode, which promotes the business expansion of imported brands in the Japanese market, the brand will target women who appreciate high-quality, sophisticated styling through major department stores and high-end select shops as its main sales channels. The brand aims to achieve sales of 1.5 billion yen (based on retail prices) within three years.
DEREK LAM was founded by designer Derek Lam in 2002. It debuted at New York Fashion Week in 2003. He served as women's creative director for TOD'S from 2006 to 2012. The diffusion line DEREK LAM 10 CROSBY was launched in 2011. Currently, the Derek Lam flagship store is located on Madison Avenue in New York, and the first Derek Lam 10 Crosby flagship store is scheduled to open in SoHo in late November. His products are sold in famous department stores and select shops such as Barneys New York, Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus, and Saks Fifth Avenue.
