Jun 19, 2014

Bluebell Japan has selected Mari Hanazawa, a former member of the Takarazuka Revue, as its 2014 fragrance ambassador. She will promote the depth and joy of perfume to help more people discover the world of perfume.

Hanazawa joined the Takarazuka Revue in 1991 as a member of the 77th class. In 1994, while still a female lead, she played the lead role of Scarlett O'Hara in "Gone with the Wind," and was promoted to the leading female lead in the Snow Troupe. She has played roles such as Elisabeth in "Elisabeth," Marie Antoinette in "The Rose of Versailles," and Christine in "Phantom." In 2006, she retired from the Takarazuka Revue after 12 years and three months as a leading female lead. Currently, she focuses her activities on stage, starring in the musical "Lady Bess," which depicts the life of Queen Elizabeth I. The fragrance ambassador role is part of a campaign to promote "Perfume Day" (October 1st), which was established by the Japan Fragrance Association in 2010. In 2013, the role was played by kabuki actor Ainosuke Kataoka.
