Introducing the "Craftsman Work Shirt" from Takeyari, a long-established canvas factory that has been in business since the Meiji era. A sophisticated work item that also suits everyday wear.
This time, Takeyari is releasing the "Craftsman Work Shirt." This project product, which was launched on the crowdfunding site Makuake, will now be available in their online shop!

The work shirt was originally made for the craftsmen who work at the canvas weaver Takeyari. The project on Makuake began with the idea that "since we weave our own durable, high-quality fabric, we want people to wear work clothes made from that fabric." The shirt is made from a thick twill fabric woven on a Belgian shuttle loom called "Picanol." Furthermore, by teaming up with Wired, a shirt manufacturer with a factory in the same Kojima district of Kurashiki City, Okayama Prefecture as Takeyari, we have been able to create a truly authentic item.

Of the three styles created, the one sold in the store is the "Short-Length Work Shirt."
It comes in two colors: the original "Picanol Navy" and the canvas-like "Natural." We were able to create a fashionable item that is perfect for work wear as well as everyday wear.

■Short-Length Work Shirt■

This work shirt is the same style as the uniform worn by Takeyari's craftsmen. It is available in sizes S, M, L, and XL.

The short length is to avoid contact with the fast-moving looms. There are no side pockets, which are prone to getting caught, and instead the chest pocket has been made larger. The buttons are bel knap (large snaps), making it easy to put on and take off. We've paid careful attention to even the smallest details to make it easy for artisans to use, resulting in a pattern that is well-established as a "craftsman work shirt."

The thickness of the fabric is somewhere between a shirt and a jacket. For everyday wear, we recommend wearing it like a denim jacket.
The short length raises your centre of gravity, giving it a slimming effect. ◎ The distinctive buttons and large pockets are subtle accents that add a playful touch to adult outfits.

In this image, we've paired it with an all-black outfit. The elegant color and texture make it a great piece without looking too casual. It gives a sophisticated impression even with simple styling. You can wear it with a T-shirt or turtleneck underneath, or tuck it in with a coat for a layered look... it's an item that you can enjoy regardless of the season or trends.

The design makes it suitable for all genders, and the size is just right - neither too big nor too small. It would be great to share with your partner or family, or wear matching outfits.
*The item worn by the man in the image above is not for sale.

A realistic work shirt packed with the attention to detail of a long-established canvas factory. Just throw it on and you'll stand out from the crowd. If you're interested, please take a look at our online shop.

[Takeyari, a long-established canvas shop founded in 1888]
Founded in 1888. Takeyari, a long-established canvas factory in Kurashiki City, Okayama Prefecture, produces more than half of Kurashiki's canvas. Beginning with mountaineering backpacks and tool cases for artisans that supported the dawn of Japan's mountain culture, the factory has woven fabrics for industrial materials such as vaulting boxes, gym mats, sailboats, truck tarpaulins, and conveyor belts, weaving fabrics that have been a part of Japanese history and people's lives. From warping cotton yarn to weaving and inspection, the factory's artisans weave the fabric by hand. This human involvement in each process allows for the production of high-quality canvas with a warmth that may be why Takeyari continues to be known as the "go-to place for canvas." Takeyari's selvedge shuttle looms, in particular, produce ultra-high-density, extra-thick canvas that only Takeyari can weave. Advanced artisanal techniques and handed-down looms guarantee the highest quality. Takeyari's ultra-high-density canvas and canvas products, bearing the Sakura Star, a mark of quality, continue to be beloved not only in Japan but around the world.
