Swatch Group Japan Ltd., Swatch Division (headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo), has begun selling designs by Boa Mistura, an artist collective with roots in graffiti art, on the Swatch online store for its customizable Swatch watch, "Swatch X You."

Many long nights spent on the streets. Full of adrenaline. The goal is always to transform public spaces and the relationship between people and places. The multidisciplinary artist collective Boa Mistura was born and raised in the graffiti scene. After many years, adventures, and adversity, the Madrid-based team spends more than half of their time together on the streets. The passion remains the same, but the motivation has changed.

Movement
"We don't travel to get our name out there in huge letters," explains Pablo Pron Carrillo, a founding member of Boa Mistura. "Our aim is to understand and decipher the place, to capture and transform its specific artistic dimension. The mere fact that it is a public space makes us feel a responsibility to the people who will inevitably come into contact with the work."

Growth
In response to the many questions that surrounded them, Boa Mistura reflected on Swatch's statement: "TIME IS WHAT YOU MAKE OF IT." In trying to arrive at an answer through intertwining concepts, they came to the following conclusion:

Time is movement
Movement is change
Change is growth
Growth is wisdom

Change
The four Swatch by You artworks were created by overlapping the letters of each conclusion. Each layer relates to the other through the juxtaposition of shape and color.

"For us, TIME IS WHAT YOU MAKE OF IT represents the quality and intensity of time lived," says Pablo Prong Carrillo. "Success and failure, change and learning. It's a life that gives meaning to elusive dimensions."

Boa Mistura Mistura is a multidisciplinary team with roots in graffiti art, based in Madrid, Spain. For the past 15 years, the artist collective has worked primarily in public spaces across Europe, Africa and the Americas. In 2018, with the support of Swatch, they breathed new life into Madrid's Mercado San Cristóbal, a neglected area suffering from depopulation. The Swatch Art Special "LAYERS OF TIME," released to coincide with the project, invites the wearer to consider that time is unreal and abstract unless it is put into action.
