Peninsula Merchandising Limited will be selling limited-edition products for the 2020 festive season at two The Peninsula Boutique & Cafe locations in Tokyo (Shin-Maru Building and Isetan Shinjuku) starting December 1st.


The common theme for festive seasons at The Peninsula hotels worldwide is "Gifts from the Christmas Tree." A special fairy tale designed exclusively for The Peninsula guides guests through festive traditions from around the world. In-store decorations and exclusive festive gift packaging feature the Peninsula's iconic page boy from the story, as well as six characters associated with global traditions, including the Nutcracker, the Gingerbread Man, the reindeer, Santa Claus, and Red Robin. "Pomme de Pain" means pine in Flemish, and the pine cone is made from yuzu and mandarin mousse mixed with fragrant Cointreau liquor. The base is a gingerbread sponge cake with chocolate mousse hidden inside, making this an adorable-looking cake that is perfect for the holiday season.

■Petit Sapin 720 yen (excluding tax)
This vibrant green cake, inspired by a fir tree, is made up of three layers: cranberry jelly, maple sugar mousse, and pistachio mousse. The tartness of the cranberries, the sweetness of the mousse, and the fragrant aroma of the pistachios all come together.

■Surprise 720 yen (excluding tax)
A gorgeous Christmas cake like a gift box has arrived, and the contents are a surprise until you eat it - it's called Surprise. The base is made of sponge cake kneaded with flavorful lemon zest and is layered with mousse made using bourbon vanilla. In the middle is strawberry ganache and covered in strawberry chocolate, making it a dish where you can enjoy the changing flavors with every bite, with a hint of lemon.


Executive Pastry Chef: Pascal Cialdella
Born in 1972, from Moselle in the Lorraine region of France. He has been involved in pastry making in Europe, Korea, and Japan for over 30 years, captivating people with his creations that bring out the full flavor of the ingredients. Passionate not only about making pastries but also about teaching, he has also taught at the prestigious Le Cordon Bleu culinary school in London. He has gained the trust of many with his warm personality and solid technical skills, and his creations, which are simple yet full of warmth and depth, are symbolic of his personality. Since taking up his post in 2017, he has overseen all pastries at The Peninsula Tokyo, including Peter and The Lobby, as well as for banquets and weddings.
