Stuart Vevers's Coach Fall 2017 collection showcased a new tomboy style, effortlessly blending contrasting moods: prairie and big city, local outdoors and New York hip-hop, symbols of status and luxury and ample luxury. The runway was covered in lush, withered grass evocative of the American wilderness. Retro rose and eagle motifs adorned the flowing shearling coats. The dynamic fabrics of galloping horses enhanced the country vibe, while street-inspired high-top shoes complemented the footwear. The collection embodied the confidence and strength of the tomboyish American girl, embodied in raw shearling. A variety of dresses were presented, skillfully incorporating floral motifs for a rich look. Red and green dresses, shaped at the knee, were paired with handmade-style knitwear by Grandma, while yellow embroidered dresses were accessorized with fringed fur tippets. Floral patterns were also featured on oversized down jackets and patchwork denim. A mixed style incorporating elements of classic varsity jackets and biker jackets was also in full swing. Jackets decorated with military-inspired patches were adorned with shearling, while leather jackets were given an edgy playfulness with studs. A glimpse of the unique culture and humor born in the melting pot of New York was evident. Of particular note was the micro mini leather bag worn cross-body. Various motifs that adorned the collection were packed into a small canvas, proposing it as a pendant-like "new accessory." It stood out as an important piece symbolizing Stuart Vevers' technique of customizing familiar objects and infusing them with his own unique style, as well as his boundless ideas.
