Italian car design leader Pininfarina and TSUTAYA's Muneaki Masuda hold event to discuss design and culture

Nov 12, 2013

On November 27th, a talk event will be held at Daikanyama T-Site between Paolo Pininfarina, CEO of the Italian design house Pininfarina Group, and Muneaki Masuda, president and CEO of Culture Convenience Club, which operates TSUTAYA. The theme of the talk will be "Creating Culture through Design: A New Style and Architectural Approach to Changing the World." The representatives of both companies, which have created innovative stylistic expressions and achieved growth in a wide range of fields, will discuss culture and design. Paolo Pininfarina gained experience in car design at Cadillac and Honda, and became CEO of Pininfarina Extra in 1987 and CEO of Pininfarina in 2008. In addition to car design, they have also worked on product design projects for global companies such as the Turin Olympic Cauldron and Coca-Cola and Samsung.

Meanwhile, Muneaki Masuda founded Tsutaya Bookstore in 1983 and Culture Convenience Club in 1985. The company is known for proposing a lifestyle through books, movies, and music, but it is also actively proposing a car lifestyle, such as hosting the classic car race "La Festa Mille Miglia" at Daikanyama T-SITE.

The event is invitation-only, with 20 participants selected by lottery. At the event, you will have the opportunity to ask the two men questions about design, architecture, cars, marketing, and planning. (See the related links for application methods. Applications will be accepted until November 17th. Results will be notified by email by November 20th.)
