Hair care book by Osamu Furusato of Hair is on sale at Daikanyama TSUTAYA

Aug 13, 2013

Daikanyama T-Site has begun stocking the beauty book "Den -DEN- ZONE CONSCIOUS" (Of HAIR BOOK PROJECT, 9,800 yen), which is not available to the general public.

Since its first publication in 2002, this book has been an "encyclopedia-like" for hairdressers, covering everything from design theory and scientific knowledge, technical theory, to customer psychology, all of which are essential for proposing hairstyles, in 11 sections. It was previously only available within the beauty industry.

When asked how they came to stock this book, Fujii of the E-Commerce Business Division explained, "I was originally in charge of books on cars, but surprisingly, there are many cases where the general public also purchases books aimed at professionals. I think that professionals and the general public alike want to know the details of car structure and to have some reference material used by professional mechanics. Similarly, we decided to include this book because we felt that it is not just hairdressers who want to know about hairstyles, which have a major impact on our daily lives, and want to choose the right and safe hair care products from the flood of available products, and want to know what professionals pay attention to when deciding on hair styles."

In addition, this book features a cover reminiscent of Western books and a variety of visual work, and is placed in the fashion and art section of Daikanyama T-Site as a highly sensitive art book. "This book is packed with tips for when you go to the salon. For example, it explains the changes one or two months after coloring with photos, making it easy to understand. It also includes a list of ingredients, so it's packed with useful information for those with sensitive scalps," says Matsuzaki, a concierge at the salon. The author, Osamu Furusato, is the owner of the beauty salon "Of HAIR," whose activities range from salon work to photo shoots for general and industry magazines, hair shows, and seminars. He currently has seven salons in locations including Jiyugaoka and Omotesando. Following his book "Den," which details his commitment as a hairstylist, he has also published a book and DVD, "D3," which provides video explanations of his techniques. He is also actively involved in education, and his seminar school, "Academy of Hair," regularly attracts hairdressers from across Japan. Shortly after opening in 1987, he quickly began developing his own products, launching "Of Cosmetics," an original hair care product series focused on organic and natural ingredients. Currently, over 50 types of hair care products are on sale at beauty salons, department stores, and online shopping sites nationwide.

In addition, if you purchase this book at Daikanyama T-Site or on the store's website by the end of August, you will receive a free set of Of Cosmetics hair soap and treatment.
