Yuming as a doorman?! "Moving" Christmas display debuts at Barneys

Nov 12, 2013

Moving window displays are now available at Barneys New York stores as the third installment of the "Have a POP CLASSICO HOLIDAY" collaboration with singer-songwriter Yuming (aka Yumi Matsutoya). On November 11th, the opening day, Yuming herself made a surprise appearance at the Ginza store's grand opening, serving as the doorman. This campaign is linked to the worldview of Yuming's 37th album, "Pop Classico," which will be released on the 20th. The window display, designed based on the album artwork by art director Chie Morimoto, features Yuming portraying a woman in a sea anemone-inspired dress commanding time and gentlemen and ladies having tea upside down in the ocean. Creative director Katsuhiko Taniguchi designed the display, which will run until December 25th, starting with the Ginza store, followed by Shinjuku, Yokohama, Kobe, and Fukuoka. In the future, the windows will be specially designed to allow people to enter, and surprise performances such as live instrumental performances by musicians embodying the theme of "Have a Pop Classico Holiday" are planned.

In addition, from the 15th, a Barneys-exclusive Christmas version of Yuming's new song "Babies are popstars" will be used as background music. From the 22nd, a photo booth will be set up where customers can take commemorative photos with the Pop Classico album cover.

The first part of this project featured T-shirts designed with a Yuming motif by the creative group XEROSEN and photographer Leslie Kee. The second part saw the release of original items by ANREALAGE.
