G-STAR RAW, a denim brand celebrating its 25th anniversary next year, unveiled its 2014 Spring/Summer collection in Harajuku, Tokyo, on November 13th. The presentation featured styling suggestions.
To commemorate the anniversary, the brand released updated models of four signature denim styles released when it was founded: Faerose, Lumber, G-Star Elwood, and US1st. The brand's raw denim (unwashed denim), first introduced in 1996, had previously been considered technically limited to 19 oz. This time, however, they attempted a 25 oz. wash series, including "Raw," "10 Year," and "25 Year," each expressing a vintage feel.
Layered men's and women's models also appeared on stage. While the emcee explained the G-STAR RAW style, stylists adjusted collars, sleeves, and pant hems to create 12 different looks.
For SS14, for both men and women, the key is to create a compact silhouette from the chest up by buttoning up the first button of the shirt or standing up the collar of the jacket, creating a "neat" look. Folding up the sleeves to expose more skin creates a light impression that is perfect for spring and summer. Tapered pants also have narrow hems that are rolled up to emphasize the curved silhouette. Dark tones such as blue and khaki were used as the base color, and a neat casual style was introduced, playing with the combination of different materials by layering T-shirts, denim shirts, jackets, denim jackets, outerwear, etc.
