BOUL'ANGE, Baycrew's first original boulangerie brand, opened its first store in Shibuya (1-14-11 Shibuya, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, 1st floor) on June 1st.
The store is named after the word "Boulange," which is the origin of the French word for baker or bakery. Based on authentic French bread making, the store offers bread that is particular about both appearance and taste, using carefully selected flour and seasonal ingredients from both Japan and abroad. The shop's namesake bread will be available in two varieties: "Pain de mie "Boul"" (1 loaf, 450 yen including tax / 900 yen including tax), a mountain-shaped loaf made with an original blend of flour for a chewy, fluffy texture that's addictive, and made exclusively for toasting; and "Pain de mie "Ange"" (1 loaf, 600 yen including tax / 1,200 yen including tax), a square loaf made with Hokkaido-grown "Yumechikara" rice that has been aged for a long time and is meant to be eaten raw. Both are available in limited quantities and are sure to become the shop's signature bread.
The menu also includes the "Croissant" (180 yen including tax), which is characterized by its rich butter aroma and thick, crispy layers, the "Tartine" (from 250 yen including tax), which changes every hour, "Pain au Chocolat" (260 yen including tax), "Mont Blanc" (350 yen including tax), and "Baguette Tradition" (300 yen including tax), and there are about 70 kinds of menu items baked using traditional French methods, including roll cakes and baked goods made by pastry chefs.
