Asami Kiyokawa and Nobuaki Kaneko light up a giant Christmas present at Shibuya Parco

Nov 15, 2013

On the 14th, Shibuya Parco hosted a Christmas ornament lighting ceremony featuring artist Asami Kiyokawa and musician and actor Nobuaki Kaneko. This year, a giant gift box featuring graphics and ornaments produced by Kiyokawa, called "DECO MAX," appeared. The lights were on from 10:00 AM to midnight, running until December 25th. Kiyokawa wore a Christmas-inspired Alexander McQueen dress with a red and black pattern and black booties. Kaneko, on the other hand, wore a slim, dark suit with a white shirt, a red tie, and sunglasses. The venue instantly lit up when the two appeared. The two have been friends for about five years and go out to dinner once every six months. Kiyokawa praised Kaneko, saying, "He's a handsome man, both in person and in his private life." He also said of the Christmas ornament, "I imagined it as a box that could hold a handsome man (Kaneko) falling from the sky." The giant box also features 10 earphone jacks for listening to Christmas songs selected by Kiyokawa. By plugging in your own earphones, you can listen to a total of five songs, including "Signals," the Parco campaign song written and composed by Kaneko, and "Perfect" by the British band Fairground Attraction. Since there are two jacks playing the same song, Kiyokawa encourages couples and friends to listen to the whole thing. When Kiyokawa and Kaneko pressed the switch, the giant box's pop and colorful lights lit up. At the same time, snowflakes, dry ice, and soap bubbles burst out of the box. Paradise Yamamoto, an official Santa Claus of the Greenland International Santa Claus Association, also made an appearance and handed out presents. Kiyokawa serves as general director of the Christmas campaign "LOVE MAX! XMAS!", which is currently being carried out at 19 Parco stores nationwide. The store visuals and TV commercials featuring Kaneko and model "Tenko" have been generating a lot of buzz.
