The Christmas illuminations at Roppongi Hills kicked off on November 5th. Former AKB48 member and singer Tomomi Itano attended the lighting ceremony held that day as the "Snow Queen" who turned on the lights. Itano appeared in an elegant purple dress with gathered details at the bust and waist and crystal-embellished Christian Louboutin high heels. With the flick of a switch, 400 meters of Roppongi Keyakizaka Street behind her instantly lit up in red. Since 2003, Keyakizaka Street has been adorned with a "Snow & Blue" white and blue illumination. This year, however, to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the opening of Roppongi Hills, the street was decorated in a "celebration color" with a red accent. Furthermore, a total of approximately 1.05 million LED lights, double last year's number, were used, further enhancing the brilliance. "This year's colors are warm and lovely," said Itano. Later, when the red illuminations were changed to "Snow & Blue," she commented, "Both colors are lovely. (The white and blue) have a beautiful wintery feel." The Keyakizaka illuminations will be lit between 5:00 PM and 11:00 PM until December 25th. The celebratory colors will only be on display for 10 minutes each hour, from 0:00 to 10:00 PM, while the remaining 50 minutes will be Snow & Blue. In addition to the illuminations, from November 14th at Roppongi Hills, illuminations and a mirror ball display will be displayed on the surface of the pond in the Mouri Garden. A number of events are planned, including Christmas concerts and a Christmas market.
