
Fashion designer Calvin Klein was born on November 19, 1942, in New York, USA. He graduated from the Fashion Institute of Technology Junior College in 1962. In 1968, he founded Calvin Klein with his childhood friend Barry Schwartz and launched a women's ready-to-wear collection. In 1972, he established a sportswear division and a cosmetics and fragrance division, and the following year became the youngest person to win the Coty Award. In 1992, he launched his second line, ck Calvin Klein, which became popular in Japan due to its low prices. He retired as a designer in 2003 and was succeeded by Francisco Costa for women's wear and Italo Zucchelli for men's wear.
As his famous quote goes, "Everything starts with cutting," his silhouettes often accentuate the body line and are known for being comfortable to wear. He also sells stockings in collaboration with Gunze.
