BEAMS released the book "WHAT'S NEXT? TOKYO CULTURE STORY" (¥1,650) on October 31st as the second installment of their 40th anniversary project, "TOKYO CULTURE STORY." "TOKYO CULTURE STORY" focuses on the 40 years of BEAMS, a pioneering select shop that has consistently driven new trends. This second installment of the project provides a detailed look at the fashion and iconic items from each decade that were featured in the first music video, "TOKYO CULTURE STORY Tonight is Boogie Back (Smooth Rap)," and provides a comprehensive introduction to the styles that were popular at the time and their background. The book also features columns on the fashion movements surrounding the styles featured in the music video, such as the rise of Ura-Hara and the sneaker boom, as well as the ski boom during the Bubble Era, gyaru culture, and third-wave coffee, highlighting iconic cultures of each era. The book also features interviews and comments from over 60 artists, designers, stylists, and other figures who have defined the era. At the end of the book, actor Sosuke Ikematsu, who appeared as a main cast member in the music video, and actress and model Nana Komatsu also appear, discussing their respective views on fashion.
