Beams and Panasonic team up again! Announces limited edition beach cruiser-inspired electric assist bicycles (300 units)

May 26, 2016

The "BP02," a jointly developed electrically assisted bicycle by BEAMS and Panasonic, will be released in late July in a limited run of 300 units.
Beams and Panasonic also collaborated on an electrically assisted bicycle in 2007. For their first release, they created the "BP01," an "electrically assisted bicycle that makes you want to ride," using BMX as its design inspiration. The limited quantity of 200 units reached within two weeks of pre-orders opening, and it sold out due to positive feedback. Panasonic still sells the "EZ," a model that inherits the design and specifications of the "BP01," as a regular product.
The new model being released this time is the "BP02," which inherits the playful spirit of the "BP01" while improving functionality and featuring a sophisticated design. Inspired by a beach cruiser, it was developed as a "cruising electrically assisted bicycle" that can be enjoyed both in the suburbs and in the city. Featuring smart, wide tires that allow it to be parked in parking spaces at apartment complexes and marketplaces, wide handlebars for a relaxed position, and a wide, thick saddle with excellent cushioning, this stylish electric assist bicycle is suitable for both town use and outdoor activities like parks, and can be enjoyed by people of all ages and genders. Available in two colors, orange and white, with 150 units of each color, a total of 300 units will be sold. The price is 131,000 yen. It is equipped with a next-generation lithium-ion battery developed by Panasonic, allowing it to travel approximately 46 km on a single charge. Pre-orders will begin on June 17th at Beams stores nationwide and the Beams online shop. At the same time, an exhibition will also begin at Beams Japan in Shinjuku.
