The Marunouchi area will host "Marunouchi Bright Christmas 2020 ~LOVE & WISHES~" from November 5th to December 25th. This year's theme is "LOVE & WISHES." Expressing gratitude for our irreplaceable Earth and feelings of love for our loved ones, the event actively incorporates environmentally friendly materials to create Christmas illuminations that are kind to both people and the Earth, and filled with love and hope. The event will also feature a collaboration with singer MISIA, who has served as an honorary ambassador for COP10 and TICAD, and has focused on social contribution activities such as biodiversity conservation and support for underprivileged children around the world, including in Africa, to commemorate the release of her first Christmas charity album, "So Special Christmas." The main venue, Maru Cube on the first floor of Maru Building, will feature a dazzling lighting show accompanied by MISIA's songs, including "Everything," as well as blue lighting to express gratitude and support for medical professionals and others on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic. The combination of MISIA's beautiful and powerful voice and the light shining from the fantastical tree will warmly embrace all visitors. Additionally, the "Flower Flash" installation, which is currently garnering global attention, will be held, utilizing flowers left behind due to the COVID-19 pandemic. During the event, a fresh flower installation will suddenly appear somewhere in the area. Various campaigns and events will also be held in line with this year's theme, "LOVE & WISHES." While the COVID-19 pandemic has forced many people into difficult lives, this event will send love and hope for the future not only to all visitors to Marunouchi, but to people all over Japan. * On November 5th, MISIA will be participating in a Christmas tree lighting ceremony and a program recording at Himaru Building, with the cooperation of Nippon Broadcasting System, Inc. Further details will be released in a press release in late October.

In the Marunouchi area, illuminations will be held from November 5, 2020 to February 14, 2021. During the period, Marunouchi will host its traditional winter event, "Marunouchi Illuminations 2020," to express gratitude to essential workers, such as medical and nursing staff, who are devotedly supporting our lives on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic, and to offer support to people across Japan who are trying to live positively despite the restrictions they face.

"Marunouchi Illuminations" is held mainly on Marunouchi Nakadori, the city's main street, which serves as a space for interaction between businesses and stores in the Marunouchi area, nearby office workers, and visitors, and this year marks its 19th year. Marunouchi Nakadori, which stretches for approximately 1.2 km and is lined with brand shops, and the area's more than 330 street trees will be elegantly illuminated with approximately 1.2 million LED bulbs in Marunouchi's original color, "champagne gold."

This year's Marunouchi Illuminations will begin lighting up on the same day as the opening of Marunouchi Terrace, a new facility located at the junction of Marunouchi and Otemachi. In the Yurakucho area, Gates of Light will be installed in front of the Kokusai Building and Shin Kokusai Building, continuing on from last year, and new decorations will be added to the Tokyo Transportation Center Building.

With the opening of new facilities, Marunouchi Nakadori is becoming even more lively, and once again this year you can enjoy a gorgeous, continuous landscape of illuminations that will shine during the Christmas season.

In addition, as a countermeasure against COVID-19, the illuminations will be turned on two hours earlier, from 17:00 to 23:00 (midnight in December), which is the usual time. The lights will now be on from 15:00. By extending the viewing time, we can spread out the viewing time and allow you to enjoy the winter scenery of Marunouchi Nakadori in a relaxed and safe manner, while avoiding crowds even outdoors.
